My early life was spent on a farm in the northern Wairarapa. During those years I must have shown some interest in art as my father bought me a large box of Faber Castell pastels. Although worn, I still use and treasure them. The oils have long gone past their use by date.
Apart from about 6 years working in Wellington, the rest of my life has been spent on a farm north of Feilding. For the last fifty years I have been an involved mother, grandmother, farmers wife and spare labour unit outside when needed. I love life in the outdoors and my garden.
Over the years I have dabbled in art with some lessons. I went to evening classes until they ceased, then three of us attending those classes have since gathered together on a regular basis for two hours of pastel painting. Each of us has our individual style.
I strive for my work to be realistic and alive and many ideas come from photos I have taken.
A special thank you to Julie Davidson for her encouragement and critique of my work.
