Michael was born in 1957, Auckland, New Zealand. He went to Elam to be a painter and left a product designer. However, after a successful design career in 2010, he decided to return to his passion for painting.
The two mediums that Michael enjoys painting in most are pastel and acrylic, as they both suit his photo-realistic style and love of detail.
Journeys along New Zealand's roads provide his inspiration and subjects of interest include: old weathered sheds, barns, railway carriages, windows and doors, old locks, and farm animals (mainly cows).
